A group of local musicians hit the streets last Thursday in a show of support for the City of Culture bid with an impromptu performance in Guildhall Square.
Large crowds quickly gathered and were treated to an exciting mix of musical styles, from traditional Irish to '70s-style Funk and Cuban beats. Whatever their tastes, there truly was something for everyone.
The event was organized by Matt McGranaghan, a member of the music collective Kintra. He said: "We wanted to do an off-the-cuff, off-the-wall event to organize people and get people motivated; to take ownership of the City of Culture bid and get them out there performing in the middle of the city". He added: "It worked very well and I hope other groups and organisations will now be inspired by that and get in touch with the City of Culture offices and get out onto the street and create events".
Videos of the event have already been creating a buzz on the internet and can be viewed at www.youtube.com/mycityofculture
